School District Services - Lewiston Altura Public School District

The School District Office provides the administration of the public school services for all students in the school district. Services include: - Child-find services which assess pre-school children to identify any developmental concerns as well as the child's readiness for kindergarten - Early intervention services for pre-school children (beginning at 3 years old) with identified developmental delays providing special preschool services, therapies, or other needed supports for the child - Creating, with the parents, an IEP plan for children with special education needs and ensuring that the services required by the plan are provided for the student - Student Counseling Services, providing counseling and guidance for all students in the district in the areas of personal, social academic, and career concerns - A Homeless Liaison, providing the necessary services and support for any student in the district who is homeless (this includes providing transportation to and from school as well as other support that may be needed by the student)

Family Health - Nobles County Community Services

Provides family health services through various programs. Services provided: - Car Seat Program: Car seats are distributed to families who meet qualifying guidelines. A Child Passenger Safety Seat Technician is available to assist any families within the community with how to properly buckle up their children in car seats as well as how to install car seats correctly. - Child and Teen Checkup (CTC) Outreach: Offers health checkups to children ages birth - 12 years who are enrolled in Medical Assistance (MA). Services include physical examinations, immunizations, hearing checks, vision check, lab tests, child development and growth, and referrals to dentists and other health care services. - Family Home Visiting Program: Offers a home visiting program to pregnant women and families with young children to help families raise healthy children to succeed in school and life. Breastfeeding and Chestfeeding Resources - Public Health Nurses, WIC Lactation Consultants, and Peer Breastfeeding Counselors are available to answer questions or concerns regarding breast/chestfeeding Early Childhood Development Resources ?- Follow Along Program: Supports parents by assessing their young child's growth and development up to age 3. Parents receive a development questionnaire called an ASQ (Ages and Stages Questionnaire) in the mail every 4 months. Once filled out, the parent returns it to Public Health. The results of the questionnaire are mailed back to the parent with suggested activities to promote growth and development for the child's specific age range. A Public Health Nurse will call the parent if there are concerns. If needed, a nurse discusses further evaluation or tips on how to promote a baby's physical and emotional development.
