Birthing center offers the following services, - Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) services - Education: Partnering with Fairview Mesaba Clinics and the Essentia Clinic-Hibbing, a variety of pregnancy, parenting, and infant care classes are available. - Lactation Services: A Lactation Specialist works closely with a Lactation Educator from the Public Health Department and the local La Leche League. These services are provided free of charge. - Maternal Child Care: Medical staff includes an obstetrician, pediatricians, and family practice physicians offering family-centered maternity care. - Prenatal Tests, including: Non-Stress Test: Non-invasive test performed using an external monitor. Ultrasound: Uses sonic waves which are beamed through the mother's abdomen to the baby. Amniocentesis: A Physician extracts a sample of amniotic fluid from inside the placental sac. - Unexpected Deliveries: Baby born earlier than planned or with special health needs. Baby receives care in the Nursery. If the baby does require intensive medical care after birth, arrangements can be made quickly for transfer to a facility with a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Pregnancy testing and treatment for chlamydia and gonorrhea is provided at no cost. - Follow Along Program: Monitors children ages birth to three. Questionnaires are sent to parents every four months to evaluate their child's development. - Family Home Visiting: For families with children birth to five years old. Car Seat Program: Medica and UCare have a car seat program for children up to 8 years of age. Education and installation of the car seat are offered to any resident of Becker County. Child and Teen Checkups (C&TC): Child and Teen Checkups are offered to any Waseca County resident under the age of 21. Checkups include: hearing and vision screening, developmental screening, physical exam, lead screening, immunizations, and referrals to other health care providers as necessary. Follow Along Program: Consists of a series of developmental questionnaires the parent completes and returns to Waseca County Community Health. The questionnaire is scored and a letter is sent to the parent with the results. This program is free to all children in Waseca County under the age of 36 months. Home Visiting Program: Home visits are offered to pregnant women, infants, and children to provide ongoing support. Maternal Child Health Services: All Waseca County families with a newborn are contacted by a Community Health Nurse. A home visit will be offered to provide new parents with information on feeding choices, newborn cares and additional support.
