Resource Centers: During designated drop-in hours, YMCA Resource Centers are staffed by an Outreach Worker who can help youth, ages 12 - 24, with basic needs support such as food, clothes, hygiene items, household supplies, parenting items, and more. Also during drop-in hours, youth can stop in to get their coordinated entry assessment completed, help find shelter, be screened for prevention services, or access other YMCA resources/services. Four locations: Lion's Resource Center/Northeast Minneapolis, Elliott Park, Emma's Place in Coon Rapids, and North Community YMCA. Safe Stay Emergency Shelter: Moves youth off the streets into a safe space and provides supportive services. School and Street Outreach: Youth Outreach Workers provide services for youth and young adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness at schools and out in the community to meet immediate needs and connect them to community resources. Youth Resource Line: A free message line for local youth ages 12 - 24 who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk. Assistance with resources and community referrals.

Provides short-term help for low-income households who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness. Direct financial assistance may include foreclosure payments, rent payments, rent subsidies, security deposits, first month's rent, utility payments, or other assistance to prevent eviction. Minimal assistance is also available for food, child care, transportation, and work clothing and supplies. The purpose of these programs is to stabilize families in their home or re-house families that are homeless.

Coordinated Entry Services (CES): The Housing Advocacy Services Department participates in the Southeast Minnesota River Valleys Continuum of Care Coordinated Entry Services (CES) for housing and support services for households experiencing homelessness Prevention Assistance: When funding is available, individuals and families will be referred to the Housing Advocacy Department for follow up on Prevention Assistance. Funds will vary on a monthly basis. The Prevention Assistance fund assists families and individuals facing eviction with back-rent financial assistance and landlord-tenant negotiation assistance. Case management includes services such as transportation assistance, information/referral, and landlord tenant law training with the goal of achieving housing stability moving forward. Rapid Re-Housing (RRH): Provides short-term rent assistance and/or deposit for individuals and families with children who are homeless to get into permanent affordable housing where the participant is the leaseholder and chooses their own apartment according to their needs. RRH includes case management services such as life skills training, transportation assistance, information/referral, landlord tenant law training, and utility assistance for up to six months with the goal of obtaining and subsequently maintaining stable housing. Households will be assessed and prioritized using the Coordinated Entry System. Long-Term Assistance: The Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Program provides high-barrier households experiencing homelessness with affordable rental housing and supportive services that assist participants with maintaining housing stability, improving overall wellness, engaging in the community and leading successful lives. PSH targets households that need intensive case management services due to challenges such as significant and persistent mental health issues and chemical dependency. Households will be assessed and prioritized using the Coordinated Entry System. There is currently a lifetime cap amount to how much a household can apply for assistance. If funding is not available, Rent Help Hennepin applications are still being accepted through their web portal. NOTE: Households in Hennepin County who meet income guidelines that need rent assistance should apply through the Rent Help Hennepin website and should not be directed to Emergency Assistance (EA)/Emergency General Assistance (EGA).
