Energy Assistance Program (EAP):The Energy Assistance Program helps pay heat and electricity costs. Payments for energy bills are sent directly to the household's energy company or fuel provider for propane, fuel oil, or wood. Financial assistance varies depending on household income and fuel costs. Grants range between $200-$1400 based on household size, income, and fuel cost.The Energy Assistance Program provides additional grants for eligible households who need help with: - Getting reconnected to heat and power after disconnections- Paying for emergency fuel deliveries of propane, heating oil, or biofuel- Preventing disconnection- Repairs and energy-related crises may be determined for additional funding when available. Grants can be used to pay a past water bill, a broken furnace, or replace a furnace.Applications are accepted starting in September, and the deadline is the following spring in May.Weatherization Program:Eligible homes are evaluated by an auditor. Once a home is evaluated, skilled workers will complete improvements to reduce heating costs. Services are free to low-income households who qualify. Additional services provided are client education, energy audits, exterior wall and attic insulation, air sealing, testing, repair, and/or repair of a home heating system to ensure efficiency and safety.
