Diabetes information and support group

A formal program providing employment and training services to workers laid off from their jobs due to no fault of their own. These and other services are available at no cost to program participants who meet eligibility requirements.A variety of services are available including: career planning and personal counseling for career decision making, developing job goals and personal planning, training and retraining resources to update skills or acquire skills in a new field, job-seeking skills workshops on preparing resumes and cover letters, learning and practicing interviewing skills and networking, job clubs to meet other job seekers to network, check current job openings, and discuss issues.Placement services are also available including leads developed by counselors and agencies. Support services in certain cases are available for expenses such as child care and transportation, to enable participants to achieve their employment or training goals.

Limited funding available to provide a one-time payment for eligible households for either emergency rental assistance to help households get caught up on late rent or security deposit and/or first month rent assistance. Assistance can be accessed once every 24 months.Emergency rental assistance may only be utilized once in a 24-month period.Cannot assist households that receive subsidies, such as through Minneapolis Public Housing Authority, Section 8, among others.Due to the high volume of emergency rental assistance applications received, application processing may take 60 days or more. Energy Assistance Program (EAP):The Energy Assistance Program helps pay heat and electricity costs. Payments for energy bills are sent directly to the household's energy company or fuel provider for propane, fuel oil, or wood. Financial assistance varies depending on household income and fuel costs. Grants range between $200-$1400 based on household size, income, and fuel cost.The Energy Assistance Program provides additional grants for eligible households who need help with: - Getting reconnected to heat and power after disconnections- Paying for emergency fuel deliveries of propane, heating oil, or biofuel- Preventing disconnection- Repairs and energy-related crises may be determined for additional funding when available. Grants can be used to pay a past water bill, a broken furnace, or replace a furnace.Applications are accepted starting in September, and the deadline is the following spring in May.Weatherization Program:Eligible homes are evaluated by an auditor. Once a home is evaluated, skilled workers will complete improvements to reduce heating costs. Services are free to low-income households who qualify. Additional services provided are client education, energy audits, exterior wall and attic insulation, air sealing, testing, repair, and/or repair of a home heating system to ensure efficiency and safety.

Provides services for pets including: - Accepts stray and surrenders of cats and dogs- Provides foster homes- Hospice Foster Program: Provides care that encompasses the physical, emotional, and social needs of animals in the advanced stages of a progressive, life-limiting illness or disability- Pet Adoptions: Animals available for adoption. Programs include:- Community outpatient: Provides ongoing services to continue treatment while individuals live and work independently- Inpatient withdrawal management: Clients are supported by 24/7 nurses and trained medication aids to move through withdrawal safely and comfortably- Intensive residential treatment - Outpatient with lodging: Provides a structured setting by living with others in recovery while accessing intensive outpatient services. Offers ways to move towards independence while maintaining ample support.

Provides credit recovery to students in the Minneapolis-metropolitan area. Students may be in grades 10 - 12 and up to 21 years of age to earn a high school diploma. VOAHS is a state-approved Minneapolis Public School Contract Alternative Program.

RCA recipients who are disabled or 65 years of age or older are required to apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI).

This program is geared towards youth at risk of not finishing school. The main focuses are to assist with completing high school, move on to post-secondary, and/or transition to work. It offers a summer job for 8 weeks with a paycheck and entry-level training in a variety of occupations. They offer counselors that can help mentor young students, identify problems, and encourage personal goals.

Provides legal resources including:- Computer to access public records- Law Library: Current text and legal periodicals accessible to the public - Legal Self-Help Center: Remote services where individuals can find information about their legal problem if they are not represented by an attorney.
