Minnesota's version of TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), called MFIP (Minnesota Family Investment Program) helps families work their way out of poverty by providing temporary cash and food benefits to eligible families. Statewide MFIP has a 60 month time limit, and there are some limited exceptions and extensions to the time limit. Participants are required to follow certain work rules. Failure to meet work rules will result in an MFIP grant being sanctioned, reduced or eliminated. In addition:- Child support will be pursued in those situations where one or both parents are absent- A woman expecting a baby may receive assistance for herself during her pregnancy- Children who are being cared for by certain relatives may receive assistanceNOTE: MFIP recipients may be eligible for Emergency Assistance, Child Care Assistance, Medical Assistance and/or Food Support (SNAP).

Services are available in-person or online and include:- Access to assistive technology and adaptive equipment- Adaptive beekeeping experiences - Creative arts programming (painting, ceramics, photography, and more) - Community volunteering and educational activities- Life skills training (self-care, communication, social skills) - Self-advocacy skill building - Specialized support for individuals with autism, mental health needs, or complex medical conditionsStaff are trained to meet a wide range of support needs. Services are person-centered and designed to help participants connect with others and fully participate in community life.

Victims may be eligible for a voucher at the thrift store to obtain clothing, household goods, and furniture items.Accepts donated items such as bedding/linens, books, movies, music/CDs, clothing, furniture, home decor, household appliances, jewelry, kitchen appliances, seasonal items, sporting goods, toys, and games. Items not accepted are baby furniture, televisions, computers, office printers, large appliances, mattresses, sleeper sofas, textbooks, exercise equipment, and items that are broken or non-working.
