Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Services - Minneapolis Veterans Affairs Health Care System
Provides a range of services to support and treat Veterans experiencing challenges with mental health and substance use addictions. Mental health services are available at the VA Hospital and community clinics, and include:
- Assessments and treatment
- Individual therapy
- Group classes and therapies
- Case management
- Home visits
- Medication consultations
- Rehabilitation programming
- Intensive outpatient program
- Inpatient hospitalization
Issues and concerns that are addressed, include:
- Psychological and sexual trauma
- Depression and anxiety
- Addiction recovery services
- Mental health issues specific to older adults
- Bipolar and psychotic disorders
- Sleep disorders
- Couples and family problems
- Therapeutic and supported employment services
- Pain management
Addiction Recovery Services provides comprehensive, individualized assessment, and treatment to Veterans with a variety of substance use problems. Care is provided on an outpatient basis; referral to VA-based residential treatment is also available. Services include:
- Specialty Substance Use Disorder group programming: Abstinence-based outpatient substance use disorder group on Saturdays
- Intensive Outpatient Program: Outpatient management for Veterans with dual disorders - substance use with co-occurring mental health programs
- Pharmacotherapy for the treatment of substance use disorders/opiate treatment program
- Relapse prevention
- Individualized outpatient care
