Provides diagnostic evaluations and medication management for a wide variety of mental health issues for children between the ages of 4 and 17 years old with occasional exceptions to assess younger children in consultation with their pediatricians. Mental health issues include problems such as: - Anxiety Disorders including separation anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic attacks, and post-traumatic disorder related to child maltreatment and other traumas - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - including attention problems without hyperactivity - Behavioral Problems that are not responsive to counseling services alone - Behavioral/mood/other symptoms in children with Autism/Aspergers - Childhood hallucinations, paranoia, and other psychotic symptom - Mood Disorders including both depressive and manic (bipolar) disorders - Mood/anxiety/other symptoms in children with Substance Abuse problems - Self-injurious behaviors & suicidal thoughts - Tourette's/Tic Disorders

A drop-in center which provides an informal family setting where consumers meet to socialize and learn social skills. Support and recreational groups are offered.

Provides assessment, intake, information and referral, and case management for adults with mental health needs. Case management services address individual needs related to diagnoses such as: - Acute/situational depression - Bipolar disorder - Borderline personality disorder - Major depression - Schizophrenia Additional services may include case planning, consultation, crisis intervention, legal commitments, guardianship/conservatorship, facilitation of hospitalizations, and other residential placements.

- Provides crisis mental health services to consumers 24 hours 365 days a year - Services include talking with a Mental Health Practitioner over the phone, mobile (in-person) crisis intervention, follow up counseling and referral to resources, and crisis stabilization. - Requests for intervention can be made by family/friends/community members and community agencies, if the client agrees to meet with CRT. - Assists with problem resolution and coordination of increasing mental health services for individuals for whom this would be helpful. - Trained persons are available to the police and emergency wards to provide assessments of mental health emergencies, to develop an intervention plan, and arrange for any needed services identified in the plan.

Staff are trained in working with most emotional and psychological problems. Some examples include: behavioral, developmental, and learning problems of children; reactions to stress or grief; problems with depression or Bipolar Disorder; anxiety disorders, including panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive thoughts and behaviors, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder; psychosis, including Schizophrenia; Personality Disorders, including Borderline, Antisocial, Obsessive-Compulsive, and others. Northland's therapists strive to keep their skills current and to gain training and experience in new approaches, as research demonstrates that they are effective, including DBT.

Groups meet regularly to support attendees, build awareness and understanding, and to connect with others in the community who face similar challenges. Groups and facilitators offer privacy and confidentiality. Click here for a full list of support groups. - Dual Diagnosis Support Groups: NAMI Minnesota's dual diagnosis support groups are for adults living with both a mental illness and a substance use disorder or addiction. Groups are free and meet weekly for 90 minutes. Participants can find support, learn skills to deal with substance abuse, and connect with others who face similar challenges.
