Project coordinators are certified accessibility specialists who will perform an environmental accessibility assessment of a home to help identify areas that could be improved for mobility and safety.Specialists will look at the construction and layout of the home as well as how things are used. They examine flooring, hallways, doorways, bathrooms, and kitchens to determine how accessible they are. Coordinators will determine plans that can help keep people in their homes longer and recommend any additional assistive technology options that would be beneficial.

Builds and remodels mortgage-free, fully accessible homes for severely injured United States military veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Each home is customized to meet the veteran's specific physical needs, empowering them to live independently and with dignity.

Safety improvements may include:- Easy-to-use cabinet pulls?- Grab bars?- Interior or exterior door adjustments, no-step door thresholds?- Lever-style door handles and faucets?- Ramps- Railings in halls and stairs- Widening doorways- Weatherization enhancements

Works with contractors to fund and install wooden and aluminum ramps, grab bars, doors, steps, railings, and decks to ensure a physically accessible home for individuals living with a physical disability.
