Junior Achievement uses hands-on curriculum inside the classroom via volunteers from business to help young people in grades K - 12 receive business, economics, and free enterprise education. JA works with businesses, the community, and educators to bring the real world to students. Each program provides interaction between the student and the volunteer to give the student skills for the future. Programs include:- Classroom Program: Volunteers from the business community visit local classrooms to deliver economic enterprise education. Programs are age-appropriate. Younger students learn about the economic world and their roles in it. Older students explore topics such as entrepreneurship, personal finance, international business, on-the-job training, and business operations.- Job Shadow: A structured program that takes groups of middle and high school students to actual work sites where they "shadow" professionals from a variety of industries.- JA BizTown: This program for 5th - 8th graders includes a classroom curriculum followed by a visit to JA BizTown learning lab. Students spend the day putting into practice the classroom instruction by such activities as interviewing for jobs, using their own checking account, and running a business. The Town includes a variety of businesses such as newspaper, City Hall, factory, bank, and Post Office. Follow-up activities are completed in the classroom.
