Medical Model Children's Advocacy Center (8 am - 4:30 pm) - Child-focused, facility-based program that conducts forensic interviews and forensic medical exams on pediatric and adolescent patients. Representatives from many disciplines (law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy) work together, making team decisions about the investigation, treatment, management, and procescution of child abuse cases. Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program - The SANE program is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week at Sanford Health, Bemidji Emergency Department and RiverView Health, Crookston Emergency Department. The Child Protection unit investigates allegations of child abuse including physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and educational neglect. The unit coordinates with the law enforcement center as well as community professionals and para-professionals to determine if the child was abused or neglected by an action, or failure to act on the part of a caregiver or other person. Offers comprehensive psychiatric care for children and adolescents, including services such as psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and individual, family, and group therapy. Specialty programs address a range of conditions, including anxiety disorders, ADHD, early-stage mood disorders, youth psychosis, and neuropsychological assessments. The division operates within the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain, emphasizing evidence-based, interdisciplinary care for youth and families.

The Itaskin Center & Cottage 35-Day Assessment Program is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). This assessment program serves residents between the ages of 10-17 years old. Upon completion of the 35-Day Assessment Program, a Comprehensive Assessment is provided to the youth's guardian and/or treatment team. The Comprehensive Assessment aims to identify child and familial strengths, resiliencies, and opportunities for growth via a multifaceted approach, while also providing diagnoses, recommendations, and a prognosis for recovery. This multifaceted approach involves a behavioral assessment, comprehensive assessment, wellness/recreation assessment, academic assessment, health screening/physical examination. Additional assessments, as requested by individual teams, include a psychiatric assessment and/or chemical use assessment. Upon completion of the program, the assessment team will also recommend a level of care believed to most accurately represent the current needs of the youth and how best to be supported. Opportunities for individual therapy and improving coping skills are provided throughout the 35-day assessment period.

Certifications: QRTP (Qualified Residential Treatment Program) The Itaskin Treatment Center & Cottage Residential Treatment programs provide trauma-informed care in a safe, therapeutic living environment for children diagnosed with a Serious Emotional Disability. The program is adaptive to meet the individual needs of each youth, based on their trauma and mental health screens at admission. Program components include but are not limited to: family integration and support, daily therapeutic groups, cultural education and activities, on-site education, and health screenings and interventions.
