Food Support - Neighborhood House

Operates two free food markets available to shoppers twice per month that provide a supply of food that changes depending on donations (quantities are based on household size). Each market usually includes fresh produce, bread, refrigerator and dairy items, canned and boxed foods, cultural-specific items (Hmong, Latino, East African), frozen meat, and staple items. Emergency bags are available on a walk-in basis once per month and include pre-packed grocery bag of dry/canned goods, one meat option, and one bag of cold items (milk, eggs, produce, etc.)

An individualized plan is created to help with academics, college admission, online learning, etc. - Middle School Strive Program: Provides a space in which East African youth can connect to discuss, learn, and get the support needed from their peers and program mentors - Mindfulness Training: Provided to resettled youth to help cope with resettlement and adjustment - Youth Strive Program: Serves recent refugees of Somali and/or East African descent who are in middle and high school to help them navigate post-graduation options - Youth Workshops: Provides short-term workshops regarding professional development that includes creating a resume, cover letter, and interview best practices, and digital literacy that includes cyberbulling, internet security, researching, and professional engagement.

Offers Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) for Southeast Asians, Latinos and Somalis suffering from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression or other mental illnesses. High Rise Social Services - Volunteers of America Minnesota and Wisconsin

Provides older adults and individuals with disabilities with services and supports that help them thrive while living independently and remain safely in their own homes. Community Health Workers and Social Workers serve older adults and individuals with disabilities in 40 Minneapolis Public Housing Authority high-rises and Village at Franklin Station affordable housing property in Minneapolis. Services may include assistance with self-managing chronic health conditions, improve connections to community services, navigate and access health systems, address transportation barriers, and attend doctor appointments to assist with translation and advocacy. Social Workers help individuals navigate complex systems, such as economic assistance, physical and mental health systems, financial concerns, housing needs, and personal crisis. Bilingual Somali team members are available to meet the language and specialized cultural needs of Somali residents as well as remote translation services to meet the language needs of all residents.
