Minor & Critical Home Repair - Home Preservation is an exterior home preservation program that provides painting, landscaping, and minor repair services for homeowners in need - Home Preservation helps low-income homeowners, impacted by age, disability, and family circumstances, who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes - We use volunteers, sweat equity, and no interest loans to make repairs affordable, helping low-income homeowners continue to live independently and securely in their homes - Home Preservation is a supplement to our core building program. It enables us to serve more families and increase volunteer opportunities.

- Housing based on need with little or no interest and at no profit - Partners with family to build or renovate simple, decent, affordable housing - Before moving in the family contributes labor and funds for taxes and insurance - Family support during partnering year - Donations accepted for funds and building equipment - Volunteer opportunities including flooring, handywork, masonry, painting, roofing, and lawn care - Not a short-term solution

Exterior repairs done on homeowner-occupied dwellings including ramps or accessibility modifications, painting, landscaping, siding, railings, porch, deck, stair repair, and gutter maintenance. Applicants are matched with a local volunteer service group to complete projects.

Chore Services - Community Thread

Matches older adults and adults with disabilities to volunteers to assist with tasks allowing people to remain safely and independently in their own homes. - Gutter cleaning or window washing (first floor only) - Handyman tasks (not requiring a professional, includes painting) - Lawn care (gardening, lawn mowing, spring clean-up, weeding) - Light house cleaning (basic tasks such as bathrooms, dusting, floors, kitchens, and vacuuming) - Moving furniture within the home - Snow removal (shoveling/snow blowing driveway and shoveling sidewalk) provided on a one-time or short-term basis. A limited amount of volunteers provide this, so it may not always be available - Only available to those living in the Stillwater Area School District #834 Services are part of Community Thread's THRIVE program.

It enables us to serve more families and increase volunteer opportunities - We partner with Aitkin county veteran service office, the D.A.V and Veteran clubs.
