Hennepin County provides two grant programs that improve the livability for homeowners and a low or no interest loan program for home repairs and maintenance:Accessibility Ramps:Offers grants of up to $10,000 for installation of home accessibility ramps or low-rise steps that enable persons with a disability or mobility challenges to continue leading independent lives in the homes.Lead-Based Paint Program:Offers grants of up to $10,000 for the detection and removal of lead-based paint in owner-occupied or rental housing built before 1978Note: Grants provided for up to $15,000 for detection and removal of lead-based paint in owner-occupied or rental housing built before 1978

If the cost of the item exceeds $600, it is the applicant's responsibility to pay the remainder of the balance and they must demonstrate the ability to pay the remaining balance.Requests are generally limited to 1 request per household every 2 years, unless the request is for an emergency beyond the household's control.
