Eligibility

- Seniors age 60 and over; primarily serves Aitkin, Becker, Beltrami, Carlton, Cass, Clay, Clearwater, Cook, Crow Wing, Douglas, Grant, Hubbard, Itasca, Kanabec, Kittson, Koochiching, Lake, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Otter Tail, Pennington, Pine, Polk, Pope, Red Lake, Roseau, Saint Louis, Stevens, Traverse, Wadena, and Wilkin counties - This program has no income guidelines, instead there is a priority list of legal issues which generally affect persons with low incomes

Required documents

All documents pertaining to the legal issues including any paperwork received concerning the case and the names, phone numbers, and addresses of all persons involved. Preparing and bringing a written summary of the legal situation will also make the most of the time available with the attorney.

8:30 am - 12 noon and 1 pm - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday

Deals only with civil law issues, does not cover criminal law: - Attorneys will only advise on wills and do not draw them up - High priority for seniors with "consumer questions" since so many seniors are victims of consumer fraud Topics include: - Housing - Medical assistance - Powers of attorney - Healthcare directives - Harassing creditor phone calls - Garnishments - Long-term care - Income and benefits issues
