Eligibility

- Residents of Nicollet County that are pregnant or have children ages 0 - 5. - Individuals or families participating in the following programs are automatically income eligible for the WIC Program: Medical Assistance, SNAP (Food Stamps), MN Family Investment Program (MFIP), Energy Assistance Program (EAP), Reduced or Free School Lunch, and Head Start.

Description

Provides nutrition education and special foods which promote good health for pregnant, breastfeeding, and post-partum women with infants and/or children up to age 5. WIC provides the following services: - Assistance with any special needs - Health assessment and screening - Nutrition education - Referral to other community services Vouchers are given to participants to purchase nutritious foods such as cereal, cheese, eggs, infant formula, fruits and vegetables, milk, and peanut butter
