Eligibility

Primarily serves Aitkin County Eligibility criteria are: - A pregnant woman, a postpartum woman within six months of delivery, a breastfeeding woman within 12 months of delivery, an infant up to 12 months of age or a child up to his/her fifth birthday
- Residing in Minnesota
- Family income less than 185% of the national poverty level
- An identifiable medical/nutritional risk determined by a qualified health professional

Application process

WIC is not an entitlement program, and therefore applicants participate in a screening and assessment process to determine eligibility. This process is called certification and the certification period is for a specified amount of time (i.e., until the end of pregnancy, the first birthday, and six month increments for children).
