Description

The Emergency Management Office is responsible for emergency planning for disaster response; public warnings; and coordination of emergency responders from the Winona County Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The department is also responsible for the coordination of severe weather operations from the EOC with volunteers from local fire departments, amateur radio, and the general public. For incidents of severe weather, hazardous material releases, terrorism or war, the department issues public warnings via outdoor warning sirens, the emergency alert system, commercial radio, and cable television. During the response and recovery stages of an event, Winona County Emergency Management acts as a liaison between federal, state, and local units of government to promote speedy access to emergency resources and recovery funding.
