Eligibility

  • Families, individuals caring for children under age 19, or individuals who are pregnant- Residents of Minnesota at least 30 days who are current residents of Olmsted County. Migrant workers and their families are exempt from the 30 day requirement if they have worked in Minnesota within the last 12 months and earned at least $1,000 in gross wages in Minnesota.- Income below 200% Federal Poverty Guidelines

Cash-grant program for families with low incomes experiencing household emergencies. Families can receive assistance once every 12 months. The assistance received must resolve the crisis and not just delay the onset of the emergency. Assistance must be temporary and must not exceed 30 days. Families must use their own money first. The amount of assistance provided might not cover the entire emergency, but it can help.Allowable Expenses:- Housing: Rent and mortgage. Verification of payment overdue or threat of eviction notice required. Assistance for a rental unit damage deposit will not be provided if the family has already moved into the unit.- Utilities: Verification of pending utility shut-off requiredAmount of assistance provided is based on household size. Only vendor or protective payee payments will be issued.
